There's one thing we haven't told you, Asbel.

Remember I mentioned isofons and how they are usually man-made while naturally occurring ones are rare?

Asch is a natural isofon of Lorelei the Aggregate Sentience of the Seventh Fonon, which means, that Luke, as a replica, is also a isofon of Lorelei.

Because of this, Asch can connect to Luke any time he wants, but Luke thinks he can't connect to Asch.

He just hasn't had the same amount of practice.
