They're red. Not a normal color, but that's it.
[curry is done, she turns off the burner and sets the pan aside so she can put it on dishes]

Red--not their original color.
In fact, it's been so long, that I can't remember what the original color was.
I was obsessed with learning everything about fonons at a young age. So obsessed, that I applied "Fonic Sight" to my eyes in order to gain their power faster.
I used that power without thought or care--frightening people who knew me and others that didn't. Eventually, I had impressed another family with my abilities, and they adopted me.
[puts his glasses back on]
It was so nice to be wanted at that time.

What's so bad about Fonic Sight then? Seems to me it would help us.

It could be beneficial, yes.
After years of studying.

However, if it's applied at the wrong time, or in the wrong way, or anything of that matter, you could lose your sight--permanently.
