[Jade is standing in the field behind the school]
Your assignment for class was to read the chapter "Fonons" and post any questions you may have had.
Let's review, shall we?
Essentially, Fonons are naturally occurring particles of sound that make up everything--living and non-living on the planet.
They divide into the different elements:
First: Darkness
Second: Earth
Third: Wind
Fourth: Water
Fifth: Fire
Sixth: Light
The Seventh Fonon is not originally a natural Fonon, but is the result of the Planet Storm mutating the combination of the other Fonons and Memory Particles, and is sometimes referred to as the Fonon of Sound.
Those that use the Seventh Fonon must be born with the ability and are referred to as Seventh Fonists.
The Seventh Fonon can be used to heal--or destroy.
The destructive property of the Seventh Fonon is known as "hyperresonance." For this to happen, two Seventh Fonists must be using their powers in tandem. The Fonons react with each other, and can tear fonons apart and put them back together.
This power can hardly be controlled and is actually useless in battle, since it would destroy everything around.
[pauses]
Unlike the other Fonons, only those born with the ability to use the Seventh Fonon may harness the power.
I was not born with that ability, and if I were to try, the results would be....disastrous.
[pauses]
Like Fonons attract each other: water to water and fire to fire, for example. Also, some Fonons compliment and can combine with each other. This can allow you to cast more powerful spells. If enough of the same type of Fonons gather, they gain an awareness--or Aggregate Sentience.
They are:
Shadow
Gnome
Sylph
Undine
Efreet
Rem
Lorelei
[pauses]
Remember, hyperresonance will not occur naturally. Two Fonists must be present using their abilites in tandem.
Each fonon emits its own frequency. Very rarely will two Fonons have the same frequency. When they do, they are called isofons and are usually man-made, although once in a while a naturally occurring isofon appears.
[glances at Luke]
Now, Fonic Artes are the harnessing of these Fonons in order to cast spells or by directing them into a weapon--known as Strike Artes.
However, in order to do this, you must recite a Fonic Verse--which brings me to my guest.
[Jade has been standing near a small rock, and with a motion of his hand, a little blue animal comes bouncing out]
This is Mieu. He is known as a Cheagle.
{{I'm going to be Mieu here--in a different color}}
Hi! I'm Mieu!
Indeed.
[Mieu bounces over to Luke]
Master! I'm so happy to see you!
[cuddles Luke]
Mieu, over here, please.
[Mieu bounces back to Jade]
Moving on.
As you may have noticed, Mieu has a ring around his belly. This ring is inscribed with Fonic Verses that allow him to harness their power. Cheagles are natural fire-breathers, so the Fire Verse enhances that ability. Attack allows him to break things with his body, and Wings allows him to fly.
Mieu, if you would demonstrate?
Okay!
[Mieu breathes fire, crushes the rock he was hiding behind, and lifts Jade in the air by flapping his ears]
[Sets Jade down]
Unlike other accessories, no matter how many times Mieu does those things, he won't "learn" them and be able to do them without the ring. Except breathe fire, but it wouldn't be as strong.
[Looks at Mieu]
Thank you Mieu. You were a great help.
I helped! I helped!
[Mieu bounces away]
[Jade watches him go]
As you use Fonic Artes of the same type, the area becomes filled with Fonons, which we call a "Field of Fonons." If you use different spells of the same element, the field will become stronger and will allow you to cast a changed spell.
For example, I will cast two Wind-based spells:
"Howl, o raging wind, and cleave mine enemies with your blade! Turbulence!"
"O darkened storm cloud, loose thy blade and run mine enemies through! Thunder Blade!"
[The surrounding air seems thicker with power]
Now, I will start casting a Water-based spell, but because of the Field of Fonons, the Verse will have to be changed:
[starts casting "Blessed Drops" until bathed in a light--the verse changes]
O sacred will, strike down those who would be mine enemy! Divine Saber!
[The air is back to normal]
All the Fonons that had been built up combined with the others to create that other spell.
[pauses]
Each person has a preference or knack for certain types of Fonic Artes. I prefer using Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth.
[smiles]
And tomorrow, we're going to discuss what your preferences are, and how to go about learning them.
{{If there's time--post a question! LOL}}
